This project explores the nature of forecasting in an era of uncertainty by combining an ancient binary coding system (the I Ching) with modern data analysis technologies (Big Data and AI). We tend to view scientific forecasting and mystical divination as opposites; yet, both the analyst and the shaman seek to impose structure on the chaos of the future.
The branching pattern of each leaf corresponds to one of the sixty-four hexagrams from the *Book of Changes*. These patterns are algorithmically generated using the Lindenmayer system, which models plant growth processes.
